Alzheimer and Dementia Care

At Pro Touch Caregivers, we provide a comprehensive and compassionate approach to Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Our caregivers are highly trained in providing specialized care to those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Family members dealing with any form of Dementia have a heavy burden on their shoulders as caring for dementia becomes very challenging and stressful. It is a very hard diagnosis to live with for the patient and the family members and caregivers. Stress can build up slowly but surely leading to frustration and exhaustion.

As a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), I have learned that there is a right way and a wrong way to deal with the dementia diagnosis. There are activities like listening to old songs and others that resonate very well with Dementia patients. I train my caregivers on the correct way to respond to dementia issues. There is a different approach to addressing them and seeing things from the patient’s perspective to allow validation.

Our Process

Pro Touch Caregivers Home care process is lead by a local (Austin, Texas) ICU nurse (RN) who care about all patients and oversee all the care provided. We tailor our care to serve you better.

The first step of our process is to determine the needs of each patient. We will meet with you and your family to understand your needs and create a personalized care plan that meets your goals and lifestyle.

After creating the care plan, we will match you with a caregiver who fits your individual needs. We only hire experienced, licensed, and caring professionals to provide quality care. We will also work closely with you and your family to make sure that all the details are covered. Our goal is to ensure that you have an exceptional experience and get the best possible care.

What is dementia care?

Dementia care is a form of specialized care that is provided to individuals who have been diagnosed with dementia. It involves physical, emotional, and social support for the individual and their family.

The goal of dementia care is to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment in which the person living with dementia can continue to live as independently as possible while also minimizing the impact of the condition on their daily life. This may include providing assistance with daily activities such as dressing, bathing, and eating, helping with communication and managing challenging behaviors, as well as providing emotional support for both the individual and their family.

Our Principle Guidelines

Home Care Services
Our goal is to be of service and add value to every minute we are with your loved one.

Dementia care activities
There are certain activities that work really well for dementia patients and our caregivers are well trained and have the patience and understanding of the disease process.

Meal preparation
Warm freshly prepared meals are a basic human need, we feel taken care of and is essential for a healthy immune system. Feeling nurtured is important to participation.

Nursing Care
Since we are run by an ICU nurse, we focus on continual and complete nursing care so caregivers are not just sitting around. Proper nursing care is 24/7.

We can do a lot more than what most home care agencies will not do. We can clarify and answer questions with a quick phone call.

Companionship and Daytime Outings
We can go to the Wildflower center, walking in the mall if it’s too hot, Local park-picnic, Callahan’s and errands that need to be done. These are regular activities that were once enjoyed and our senior miss once they stopped driving.

Transportation anywhere
We could help take them to doctors’ appointments and have a list of questions to ask them-so they don’t forget them. Go visit a family or friend that might be a little far away-it’s refreshing to get out of the house and change the scenery.

Respite Care
We can provide temporary care while you get a rest break, monthly or weekly so you don’t burn out because stress builds up slowly. We can take care of them while you are at a wedding or on vacation or have an event. We don’t want you to burn out while taking care of a loved one—it’s a hard job, and we applaud your dedication!

May include medical or therapeutic treatments, assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing, and other health-related tasks for people who are unable to care for themselves.

The goal of dementia care is to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment in which the person living with dementia can continue to live as independently as possible.

We strive to create a personalized plan of care that meets each patient’s individual needs. Our team is dedicated to providing quality care while respecting each patient’s privacy and dignity.

We focus on providing support, education, and monitoring to ensure a safe recovery and prevent any complications or readmission to the hospital.

We help patients maintain their gains from the rehabilitation and can include physical therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, and other forms of support

We focus on helping individuals transition from one living environment to another. This can include transitioning from hospital to home, home to nursing home, or nursing home to hospice care.
